NEW Beaches St. Vincent Resort Coming Soon To St. Vincent and The Grenadines

For years, Sandals and Beaches Resorts fans have waited patiently for Beaches Resorts to announce a new property. Excitement brewed when talk of a Beaches Barbados and then a Beaches Tobago circulated, only to be delayed and then shelved for the time being.

Since then, Sandals Resorts International has been quiet on plans to expand the Beaches brand beyond their two resorts in Jamaica and one resort in Turks and Caicos. So quiet that the news took everyone by complete surprise when Adam Stewart took to his social media pages to make this announcement.

A more complete post on Instagram highlighted more information about the purchase.
The full Instagram post reads: "Today, My Chairman @gbutchstewart & I and our team have taken a bold step towards planning for the future of Sandals Resorts International, our over 14000 team members and the future of the regional tourism industry.

We are excited to share the news of our company's expansion to a new destination and our eighth island in the Caribbean, St. Vincent and The Grenadines. Through a partnership with the Government and people of this beautiful island, Sandals Resorts International will be introducing a new #Beaches Resort.

Our company has always focused on growth and expansion and now more than ever, we are looking to the future. This announcement is a continuation of year-long talks and advanced commitments which were well underway before the pandemic and represents our belief in the strength of the regional tourism industry.

As always, we remain committed to providing our team members with unlimited opportunities for growth and development, and to providing our guests with unforgettable luxury-included vacation experiences. @beachesresorts @sandalsresorts @stvincentandgrenadines"

Sandals Resorts International purchased the Buccament Bay Resort, which closed its doors in 2016 after 5 years of operation. The deal had been in the works for over a year, according to Sandals.

St. Vincent and The Grenadines is located 90 miles west of Barbados and is a destination known for diving, snorkeling, and sailing the clear warm waters off their shores. You'll find deserted cays, sandbars, rocks and lagoons among many other things that make up the beauty of St. Vincent.

The Chairman, Gordon "Butch" Stewart, told the media that this resort "hugs the Caribbean Sea and is nestled within a lush mountain range and neighboring rainforest. Best of all, it’s only a short drive from the newly constructed Argyle International Airport."

In our research of the former property we see that it is located on the south-western coast of St. Vincent. It was built in 2010 and has 102 rooms which range from regular suites up to four bedrooms villas, including some villas with private pools.

The former resort has five dining options listed online. A beachside buffet, an Indian restaurant, an Italian restaurant, a seafood restaurant and a coffee shop.

Sandals Resorts International will be taking time to "Sandalize" the Beaches St. Vincent property before they open to guests-- a date which has yet to be announced. When asked, Adam had this to say: "The resort will undergo extensive reimagination and renovations. Each time we expand, we bring with us the full potential of our 40 years in hospitality with the creation of new jobs and skillsets through our Corporate University, the on-the-ground work of our Sandals Foundation, the dedicated airlift and comprehensive global marketing campaigns that always follow. As we look to the future, this growth stands for tremendous possibility.”

Earlier this year, rumors circulated that Sandals Resorts International may have purchased two properties in Jamaica. Playa Resorts sold their Jewel Dunns River-- formerly Sandals Dunn's River before Jewel purchased it-- and Jewel Runaway Bay-- a family-friendly property with a large waterpark, already perfect for a Beaches property. Sandals had not confirmed or denied the purchase of these properties when asked meaning, at the moment, it's pure speculation. However, if true, this would be an incredible addition to the brand as many past guests miss the Sandals Dunn's River property and a new Beaches Resort closer to the Montego Bay area would expand options for families traveling to Jamaica.
